PROGRAMS

Under the ALI Certification Program, ALI performs the functions of administrator and auditor/inspector to determine compliance of sealed insulating glass assemblies with applicable industry standards. Certification is for Sealed Insulating Glass (SIG) unit performance. Double and triple-glazed assemblies can be evaluated, along with those assemblies produced with low-emissivity glass and internal dividers. Gas fill methodology can be evaluated to meet the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC 706-2010 E0A0) requirement is also available in conjunction with this program.

 

Any manufacturer of sealed insulating glass units, whose products meet the designated voluntary specifications and who signs an ALI License Agreement, may participate in the ALI SIG Certification Program. Any products that comply with the program's designated standards may be submitted for testing and certification.

 

Each different assembly must be tested initially for Certification and once annually to maintain certification. The selected test lablratory performs the testing to determine compliance with the applicable standard. The test report and submitted data are reviewed by ALI to determine the degree of compliance. If reported test findings are validated for completeness and indicate compliance with the requisite specification and program requirements, ALI issues an Authorization for Product Certification and lists the product in the Certified Products Directory.

 

Without prior notice, an ALI inspector visits the Licensee's manufacturing plant or plants at least twice annually for surveillance inspections of the Licensee's assembly process and audit of the Quality Management System so as to determine compliance with the requirements of the SIG Certification Program.
